Millions of people have lost one or more teeth to injury or disease, such as cavities and periodontitis. With missing teeth, simple tasks like chewing and speaking can be difficult, and confidence suffers, as well. Dr. Fondriest offers several options to bring your smile back to picture perfect. Tooth replacement with dental implants, bridges, or dentures will give you beautiful, natural looking teeth that function well and let you enjoy the foods you like most. Regain your smile and your confidence at visiting Lake Forest Dental Arts.
Why Choose Dental Implants?
Dental implants can replace one or several teeth. An implant has two parts – the post and the crown or prosthetic. The small, biocompatible metal post is surgically secured into a socket where a tooth is missing. Over the course of a few months, bone tissue integrates with the post to form a solid foundation. Atop the post, a single implant may be permanently attached. Alternatively, a few implants can retain a bridge, partial, or denture.
What are Dental Bridges?
A dental bridge replaces one or a few teeth in a row. It is held permanently in place by attaching to two crowns, one on either side of the replacement teeth, which form the bridge. A bridge can also be secured to dental implants, rather than crowns on natural teeth.
What about Dentures?
Dentures replace all teeth on the top, lower, or both arches. Traditionally, dentures are held in place by denture adhesive, or cream. Natural suction can retain an upper denture. However, modern dentistry gives us a more secure and reliable fit with implant-retained dentures. A permanent or removable denture can be secured to four strategically placed implants. Benefits of implant-retained dentures include no slippage, no need for adhesive, and the potential for a lifelong prosthetic.
